It's always useful to be able to talk to other people about your projects and to hear about their projects. You can often get good ideas on how to improve things, what techniques worked well for other people, and what problems you have in common. Conferences are a good way to do that. That's why I'm happy to be going to the Smalltalk Industry Conference this week.
